The Livestream Story Challenge
Official Rules
Please read these rules carefully before entering the Foveo Livestream Story Challenge.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN
A purchase or payment will not increase the chances of winning. Void in Quebec and wherever prohibited by law.
The Foveo Livestream Story Challenge (the “Challenge”) is sponsored by Foveo Memorial Services Inc., 2 Mission Inn Grove, Ottawa, Ontario K2R 1C6, Canada (the “Sponsor”). By entering, each entrant agrees to these Official Rules and to the Sponsor’s decisions concerning the Challenge, which are final and binding, subject to applicable law.
1. Challenge Period
The Challenge begins at 12:01 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on September 9, 2026 and ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT on October 16, 2026 (the “Challenge Period”). The Sponsor’s systems are the official timekeeping devices. Online entries must be submitted, and email entries must be received, before the Challenge Period closes.
2. Eligibility
The Challenge is open to natural persons who, at the time of entry:
- are legal residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, or one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, excluding United States territories and possessions;
- have reached the age of majority in their province, territory, state, or district of residence; and
- are funeral directors, funeral-home owners or employees, or other professionals working in the funeral-service profession.
Employees, officers, directors, contractors, representatives, and agents of the Sponsor, and members of their immediate families or households, are not eligible. For these rules, “immediate family” means a spouse, parent, sibling, child, or that person’s spouse, regardless of residence. The Challenge is subject to applicable federal, provincial, territorial, state, and local laws.
3. How to Enter
Online entry
During the Challenge Period, visit https://foveo.org/story-challenge, open the Story Challenge entry form, complete all required fields, submit an eligible story, complete the required certifications, and submit the form as directed.
Email entry
Alternatively, send an email with the subject line “Story Challenge Entry” to [email protected]. The email must be received during the Challenge Period and include:
- the entrant’s full name, residential city, province or state, country, postal or ZIP code, telephone number, and email address;
- the entrant’s professional role and the name and location of the funeral home or funeral-service business associated with the entry;
- a story that satisfies Section 4;
- a statement confirming that the entrant has reached the age of majority where they reside, is eligible under these Official Rules, has read and agrees to these Official Rules, and makes the certification set out in Section 4; and
- if desired, the statement: “Please keep me and my funeral home anonymous if Foveo shares my story publicly.”
Online and email entries have equal status. Limit one entry per person in total, regardless of entry method or the number of email addresses used. Multiple entrants may not share an email address. Automated, bulk, mechanically reproduced, incomplete, late, misdirected, or otherwise non-compliant entries are void. No purchase or existing relationship with Foveo is required.
4. Story Requirements and Entrant Certification
Each entry must include a truthful story based on the entrant’s own professional experience with funeral livestreaming. A story may describe a meaningful moment, an avoidable mishap, or something learned through experience. The story must not contain unlawful, defamatory, threatening, obscene, discriminatory, infringing, or confidential material.
By submitting an entry, the entrant certifies:
- This story is based on my own experience, and I have the right to submit it.
- My submission does not violate another person’s privacy, confidentiality, copyright, contractual, or other rights.
- I have not included the names or identifying information of deceased persons, family members, guests, or other individuals unless I am authorized to do so.
- The information in my entry is true and complete, and I have read and agree to the Official Rules.
The Sponsor may disqualify a submission that it reasonably believes fails these requirements. The Sponsor may request evidence of eligibility, authenticity, authority, or consent before using a story or awarding a prize.
5. Permission to Use Stories and Anonymity
Each entrant retains ownership of their submission. By entering, the entrant grants the Sponsor a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free licence to reproduce, edit, adapt, excerpt, publish, display, distribute, and otherwise use the submission, in whole or in part and in any media now known or later developed, for educational, editorial, advertising, and promotional purposes, without further payment or approval, subject to an anonymity request made under this section and applicable law.
An entrant may request anonymity through the online form or eligible email entry. If anonymity is requested, the Sponsor will not publicly associate the entrant’s name or funeral home’s name with the story. The Sponsor may still use the entrant’s identifying information to administer the Challenge, verify eligibility, communicate with the entrant, award prizes, and satisfy legal or recordkeeping obligations. The Sponsor may edit a story to remove identifying information, but cannot guarantee that someone familiar with the underlying circumstances will not recognize the events described.
The permission in this section applies whether or not the entrant is selected as a winner. Any separate consent to receive marketing communications is optional, is not a condition of entry, and does not affect the chances of winning.
6. Prizes
Five prizes are available. All values are stated in United States dollars. The total approximate retail value of all prizes is US$4,982.
| Prize | Description | Number | Value each |
|---|---|---|---|
| First | Twelve consecutive months of the Foveo CLASSIC subscription plan for the funeral home identified in the winning entry | 1 | US$2,988 |
| Second and Third | Three consecutive months of the Foveo CLASSIC subscription plan for the funeral home identified in each winning entry | 2 | US$747 |
| Individual | A gift card chosen from a reasonable list of available retailers provided by the Sponsor | 2 | US$250 |
Subscription prize terms
A subscription prize is awarded to the eligible funeral home identified in the selected entry, subject to that funeral home’s acceptance of the prize and Foveo’s standard service terms. The winning entrant is not personally entitled to the subscription or its stated value. Hardware, third-party services, internet connectivity, taxes, and services outside the CLASSIC plan are not included.
The funeral home must select a prize activation date within 60 days after winner verification. The prize period then runs consecutively for 12 months or three months, as applicable. For a new customer, the subscription begins on the selected activation date. For an existing CLASSIC customer, the prize will be applied as a prospective account credit for the applicable number of months. For an existing customer on a higher-priced plan, the Sponsor will apply a credit equal to the applicable CLASSIC subscription value, and the customer remains responsible for any difference. No credit applies to charges incurred before activation, and unused service or credit is forfeited when the prize period ends.
A subscription prize has no cash-redemption value, cannot be substituted for cash, and is otherwise non-transferable. At the Sponsor’s discretion, a winning funeral home may request that the prize be applied to another funeral-home location under the same ownership. Limit one subscription prize per funeral home or commonly controlled group of funeral homes.
Gift card terms
Each gift-card winner may choose from a reasonable list of retailers made available by the Sponsor, subject to retailer and geographic availability. For a Canadian winner, the Sponsor may provide a gift card denominated in Canadian dollars with a value approximately equivalent to US$250, determined using the Sponsor’s reasonable exchange-rate source when the gift card is purchased. Gift cards are subject to the issuer’s terms and are not replaceable if lost, stolen, damaged, or used without authorization. Limit one gift-card prize per person.
General prize terms
The subscription prizes and individual gift-card prizes are awarded independently. An entrant may receive one gift card even if the funeral home identified in that entrant’s submission receives a subscription prize. Prizes may not be sold, assigned, or transferred except as expressly permitted above. No substitution is allowed, except that the Sponsor may substitute a prize or component with one of equal or greater value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Sponsor’s reasonable control. Winners and recipient funeral homes are responsible for all costs not expressly included and for all applicable taxes.
7. Random Draws and Odds
At approximately 1:00 p.m. EDT on October 27, 2026, at the Sponsor’s booth number 1551 during the 2026 National Funeral Directors Association convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Sponsor will conduct random draws from all eligible entries received during the Challenge Period. The draws will be overseen by Trajan Schulzke, the Sponsor’s Chief Executive Officer. Entrants do not need to be present.
The Sponsor will draw potential recipients for the first, second, and third subscription prizes and then for the two gift-card prizes. After a funeral home or commonly controlled group has been selected for a subscription prize, entries associated with that funeral home or group remain eligible for an individual gift card but are ineligible for another subscription prize. After an entrant has been selected for a gift card, that person is ineligible for the remaining gift-card draw. If an ineligible duplicate is drawn, the Sponsor will draw another entry for that prize.
The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. All prizes are available throughout the eligible geographic area and are not allocated by region.
8. Potential Winner Notification and Verification
The Sponsor will attempt to notify each potential winner using the email address or telephone number provided in the entry. A potential winner must respond within three business days after the first notification attempt and must complete any declaration of eligibility, release, tax form, funeral-home acceptance, or other documentation reasonably required by the Sponsor within the stated deadline.
Before being confirmed as a winner, a selected Canadian resident must correctly answer, without assistance of any kind and within two minutes, a multi-step mathematical skill-testing question administered by telephone, video call, email, or another method selected by the Sponsor.
A potential winner may be disqualified and an alternate may be selected by random draw if the potential winner cannot be contacted, does not respond or provide required documents on time, is ineligible, answers the skill-testing question incorrectly or outside the time limit, declines the prize, or otherwise fails to comply with these Official Rules. If a funeral home declines or cannot accept a subscription prize, the associated potential winner will not receive that subscription personally, and the Sponsor may select an alternate entry.
A selected entrant is not a winner, and a funeral home is not a prize recipient, until the Sponsor completes verification and provides confirmation. Prizes will be delivered or activated without undue delay after verification and completion of applicable fulfilment requirements.
9. Winner Announcement
Confirmed winners will be announced at https://foveo.org/story-challenge. Subject to applicable law and any anonymity request, the announcement may include a winner’s name, funeral home, and city and province or state. If a winner requested anonymity, the Sponsor may identify the winner and funeral home in general terms, such as by professional role and province or state.
For a winners list available for 90 days after the final winner is confirmed, send a request to [email protected] with the subject line “Story Challenge Winners List.”
10. Privacy
The Sponsor will collect, use, and disclose personal information submitted in connection with the Challenge to administer entries, verify eligibility, contact potential winners, award and fulfil prizes, publish stories as permitted under Section 5, prevent fraud or misuse, and meet legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations. Information will be handled in accordance with the Sponsor’s Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Personal information may be processed by service providers acting for the Sponsor and may be transferred across provincial, state, or national borders where permitted by law. The Sponsor will not use an entry to enrol an entrant in marketing communications unless the entrant provides separate consent. An entrant may withdraw marketing consent without affecting the entry or chances of winning.
11. General Conditions
The Sponsor may disqualify any person who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or operation of the Challenge, submits false or misleading information, violates these Official Rules, acts in an abusive or disruptive manner, or attempts to undermine the legitimate operation of the Challenge.
If fraud, technical failure, unauthorized intervention, force majeure, public-health restrictions, convention cancellation, or another event beyond the Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity, security, administration, or feasibility of the Challenge, the Sponsor may suspend, modify, or terminate the Challenge, subject to applicable law. If practicable, the Sponsor will award the available prizes by random draw from eligible entries received before the action or by another fair method described in an updated notice. The Sponsor will not modify the Challenge in a manner that unfairly disadvantages entrants or reduces an already-earned prize except where required by law or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
If there is a conflict between these Official Rules and other Challenge advertising or communications, these Official Rules govern. The Sponsor’s failure to enforce any provision does not waive that provision.
12. Releases and Limitations of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, representatives, and agents from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses arising from participation in the Challenge; acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of a prize; or the Sponsor’s authorized use of a submission, except to the extent caused by a released party’s fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or breach of an obligation that cannot lawfully be excluded.
The released parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, corrupted, inaccessible, misdirected, or undelivered entries or communications; network, internet, website, email, platform, hardware, software, or other technical failures; unauthorized human intervention; or incorrect information caused by equipment, programming, or human error, except where responsibility cannot lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in these Official Rules limits any liability or right that cannot lawfully be limited, waived, or excluded.
13. Taxes
Each winner and recipient funeral home is solely responsible for determining and paying all applicable federal, provincial, territorial, state, local, and other taxes associated with accepting or using a prize. The Sponsor may require identification, taxpayer information, or other documentation needed for legal, tax-reporting, withholding, or prize-fulfilment purposes. A winner’s failure to provide required documentation may result in disqualification where permitted by law.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
Except where prohibited by applicable law, the Challenge and these Official Rules are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Entrants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ottawa, Ontario for disputes arising from the Challenge. This section does not deprive an entrant of any mandatory protection or right that applies under the law of the entrant’s place of residence and cannot lawfully be waived.
15. Severability
If a court or other authority with jurisdiction determines that a provision of these Official Rules is invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted or severed, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
